Of all the messages I have heard preached about Satan, I have never heard a message preached on Satan.
Satan has been a major problem for man since the early morning of time. Beginning by deceiving Eve in the garden of Eden and continuing until the present day. Many wise and strong men have fallen for his deception. The first was Adam followed by Cain whom killed his brother Abel and then the list goes on to the bond woman and Saul and on to the whole world except for Noah and his family.
Wise men such as Solomon ended up being deceived by Satan and strong men Samson also fell of his deception. And good men such as David have been deceived by Satan.
However, Satan could do nothing and have no influence in this world if people did not listen to him and do his evil deeds for him, and in fact, when Christ is the King of the world, Satan will have no power over man because Satan will be bound in the pits of hell. Then even the animals will be at peace with each other. (Isa. 11:6--65:25) And all shall eat of his own fig tree. (Isa. 36:16) Then it will be fulfilled what the angels sang at Christ's birth, " on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:14; however, Christ did not come to bring peace to the world at his birth but sword." Matt. 10:34. Satan was the god of this world when Christ was born but he will be bound in hell when Christ is here as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Satan has been a problem--big problem--for man since he was cast out of heaven and became the god of this world. Some good men fell and some did not. Some that fell repented and some did not.
There is record of Cain repenting of his sin; there is no record of Saul repenting of his sins notwithstanding he was an anointed man of God.
David was an anointed man of God and committed awful sins but he repented and was forgiven. Satan will fight with and deceive God's people if he can and he enjoys far too much success. He provoked David to number the people against God's will (1 Chr0. 21:1). David realized his mistake and, and said unto God, "I have sinned greatly because I have done this thing." (1 Chro. 21;8)
Paul recognized that Satan has supernatural powers. He preached that God's people needed the whole armor of God to stand against Satan. (Eph. 6:10) When God's people are doing good, Satan has a long history of being present. "When the sons of God came to present themselves unto the Lord, and Satan came also among them." Job 1:6 "When Joshua stood before the angel of the Lord, Satan was standing beside him." Zach. 3:1 When Christ was tempted by Satan, angels ministered unto him." Mark 1:3 If Christ needed the ministery of angels when tempted by Satan, surely we do, too.
"When the people heard the word of God, Satan came immediately and took the word that was sown in their hearts." Mark 14:15
"Satan filled the heart of Ananias to lie to the Holy Ghost." Acts 5:3
Paul taught that we should "not be ignorant of his [Satan's] devices." 2nd Corr. 2:11
However, it is possible to stand against Satan. Many of the faithful in the Old Testament time did including, but nit limited to, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Enoch, Jacob, Job and the prophets to name a few.
Satan's major handymen today are false prophets and false teachers teaching that all people are God's children. This is a very evil and dangerous doctrine. Christ made it clear that only the born again are children of God and the unbelievers are the children of Satan.
Another serious problem in the country and the world are crooked lawyers and corrupt judges that have no respect for God or his laws and commandments. Another problem are lying politicians that will say or do anything to hoodwink the people to keep them in power. It is difficult for honest people to enjoy justice. They have no fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom.
Christians and church goers are not immune from the works of Satan. Paul severly condemned the church at Corinth for acts and deeds unbecoming believers in Christ. Therefore, Paul said that the church at Corinth were engaging in "envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?" 1st Cor. 3:3. It is no mystery that Paul said that we need the whole armour of God to stand up against Satan. (Ref. Eph. 6:10=18) Getting entrapped by Satan is not worth the cost. The rewards of living righteous lives and doing the will of God far exceed any gains of the wares of this world. Christ said, "the meek "shall inherit the earth." Matt. 5:5 Paul said, "Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world?. . ." 1st Cor. 6:2 And "Know ye not that we shall judge angels? . . . " 1 Cor. 6:3.
We shall all stand before the Judgment and be judged according to the deed we do here on earth. Amos said, "Prepare to meet they God." Amos 4:12
